BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team beat visiting Holly Grove, 3-1, to win the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) championship.
The Mallards beat Delmarva Christian, 5-0, in the ESIAC semifinals last Wednesday to advance to the conference championship at home last Friday against Holly Grove. Worcester got goals from Owen Nally, Brendan Miller and Seth Lewis to pull away for the 3-1 win and claim the ESIAC championship.
The Worcester boys were near perfect on the season, their only loss coming to always-tough Cape Henlopen back on September 24. After that loss, the Mallards ran off 10 straight wins in impressive fashion. During the win streak, the Worcester boys outscored their opponents by a combined 31-5.
The Mallards finished the season with another ESIAC championship and a 13-1 record. Last year, the Worcester boys beat Salisbury Christian, 1-0, in the ESIAC tournament championship game.
