Late Goal Leads Mallards To Victory

BERLIN- After battling to a scoreless tie for over three quarters of the game, Worcester Prep’s varsity field hockey team finally broke through with a goal to beat Holly Grove, 1-0, in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) championship game last week.

The Mallards and defending champion Eagles battled back and forth for much of the contest before Worcester finally broke through with a goal by Hailee Arrington with just over five minutes remaining to take a 1-0 lead. Worcester held on the rest of the way and took the ESIAC tournament title from Holly Grove, which had won the regular season championship.

After the championship game, the ESIAC field hockey season awards were announced and Worcester was well represented on the list. Named to the ESIAC All-Conference First Team were Arrington, Leigh Lingo, Regan Lingo, Ava Schwartz and Eva Parks.
