OCEAN PINES — Lawrence Terry “Larry” Schissler, 71, of Ocean Pines, Maryland, passed away on Aug. 10, 2016 peacefully in his sleep.

Visitation was held on Aug. 16, 2016 at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. A brief service was hosted by his sister Susan Bowen, his niece, Jennifer Pfister and his friend Norman Cathell of the Ocean City Lions Club. All arrangements are being handled by Burbage Funeral Home.

Larry was born in Baltimore on May 9, 1945. He graduated from Woodlawn High School, continued on to graduate from Baltimore County Police Academy and received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Catonsville Community College.

Larry was married to his high school sweetheart Linda Ann Schissler (Pfister) on May 15, 1965; they were married 51 years. He and his beautiful wife remained high school sweethearts their entire marriage.

Larry served with the Baltimore County Police for 29 years, where he achieved his highest rank of Major before retiring in 1991. Not known to sit idle, Larry became a top producer with Long and Foster Realty of Ocean City until 2011 when he finally settled down for good. He lived life to the fullest. Some of his pursuits were fishing, golfing, travelling, poker, coaching, and spending time with his friends and family. He was also actively involved in volunteering for many years and was a dedicated member of the Ocean City Lions Club and the Parrothead Club of Ocean City.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Ann Schissler (Pfister); his three children, Melissa L. Maletesta, Matthew L. Schissler and his wife Stephanie, and Michael H. Schissler and his wife Kim; his seven grandchildren, Elyse, Abbey, Joplin, Adrien, Tyrus, Mikala and Kaehleb; his sister, Susan Bowen (Schissler) and her husband Kenneth Bowen; his nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Jennifer, Lisa, Robert, Marie, James, Joanne, Beth, Jessica and Kenneth; and the rest of his relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Schissler and Anna M. Seidlich, as well as his sister, Geraldine Colliflower (Schissler).

Elizabeth Ann Fiori

OCEAN CITY — Elizabeth Ann Fiori, age 64, of Ocean City died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 at home.

She was born in Baltimore and is the daughter of Joseph and Olga (Semeniuk) Morotti of Kent Island, Md.

She was the co-owner and operator of Jo-Lee Used Cars in Baltimore for over 30 years, a Realtor and a member of Anne Arundel Association of Realtors and since 2007 worked for her son Eric at Bayside Jet Drive in Berlin.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Raymond T. Fiori of Ocean City; two sons, Raymond T. Fiori Jr. and wife Carri of Albany, Ore. and Eric Fiori and wife Mendy of Berlin; a brother, Joseph J. Morrotti Jr. of Stevensville, Md.; and three grandchildren, Elliana, Lila, and Lucy Fiori.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 17 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City with Father Paul Jennings officiating.

Paul J. Stewart

SEVERNA PARK — Paul Joseph Stewart of Severna Park and formerly of Ocean City passed away on Aug. 8, 2016 at the age of 87 after a long struggle with COPD.

He was born in Baltimore City on April 5, 1929 to Paul J. and Carrie Rafferty Stewart. He grew up in South Baltimore and attended St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church and School. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Stewart Huffman, and is survived by his brother, Michael J. Hall. He was married for 21 years to Carlyn Buschmann and seven years to Catherine Sturm. He is survived by his dear companion, Mary Vecciarelli.

He leaves behind his children, Deborah Sesney (Ronald), Paula Miles (Warren), Marc Stewart (Debi), Paul Stewart and Erin Zebron. His nine grandchildren are Sean and Carrie Sesney, Catherine Stewart and Christen Stewart-Ierardi, Carlyn Stewart, Alicia and Olivia Zebron and David and Ryan Miles. His seven great grandchildren are Brett, Avery and Alison Sesney, Aubrey Coleman and Chloe, Nathan and Cole Miles.

Paul was a member of the Teamster’s Local 355. He was a fan of the Baltimore Colts. In 1977, he received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Maryland State Police for his part in saving the life of a burn victim at BWI Airport.

He moved to Ocean City in 1977. He worked at the OC Fishing Pier and volunteered with the OC Police Department. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and baking sugar cookies. He collected coins, old model trucks, Hess trucks and David Winter Cottages. He served as president of the OC Democratic Club, was a member of the Irish-American Club, Singles on the Shore and the Senior Center where he taught line dance classes. He also ran for a position on the City Council. He was on the OC Ethics Committee from 1999-2010 and served on the Board of Directors of the Angelfish Condominium Association. Mayor Jim Mathias presented Paul with a Key to the City in 1998. He has a tree planted at the 127th Street park in his honor.

His travels included trips to Hawaii, England, Spain, Bermuda and many states within the U.S. Paul returned to Severna Park in 2011 and lived at Park View Senior Living until his death. Arrangements will be private.

Calvin W. Keiser

OCEAN CITY — Calvin W. Keiser passed away on Aug. 9, 2016 at the age of 90.

Born on April 9, 1926 in Baltimore, he married Josephine Rayner on Nov. 30, 1946. He was dedicated to Josie for 63 years and adored her and their family.

In his early years, he worked for a marine hardware store, Wm. H. Whiting Company. After retiring, Calvin was employed by High’s and Royal Farms. This is where his gregarious personality formed many long lasting friendships. He resided in Ocean City for 28 years and later moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. where he spent the remaining six years of his life living with his daughter and son-in-law.

Calvin is survived by his oldest daughter, Frieda Roberts and her husband, Stephen Roberts of Palm Beach Gardens, his youngest daughter, Pamela Shutt, of Ocean City, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held for Calvin at a later date in Florida.

David Lewis Arnold, Sr.

BERLIN — David Lewis Arnold, Sr., 82, passed away Aug. 1, 2016, at Kings Daughters Health and Rehab in Staunton, Va. Cremation was conducted at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, Va.

A celebration of life will take place at Bethany United Methodist Church in Berlin on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Connie Paulson officiating.

Dave was born in York County, on Aug. 28, 1933, to the late Wilford K. Sr. and Esther (Mitzel) Arnold.

Dave served as a SGT in the Korean War, earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration at Elizabethtown College and then became a corporate pilot flying for Glatefelter Paper Company.  In 1964, he was hired by Trans World Airlines (TWA) flying the Constellation “Connie”. He retired with TWA in 1992 as a Sr. Captain flying the 747 across the pond. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1 Paris, France, VFW, National Wild Turkey Federation, and NRA.

Dave was the husband of Diane Lentes Arnold for over 25 years and they made their home in the George Washington National forest working the property, traveling, hunting, camping, and visiting with family.  They also enjoyed their seaside home in Ocean City.

Dave is survived by two sons, David II and Christopher, and six step children, Richard, Linda, Mary, Paul, Jennie and Robert. He is also survived by his siblings, James Arnold, Ray Arnold, Wilford Arnold, Fae Adams, Susan Moser and Jean Manning: nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; a brother, George; and a sister Patricia. His brother Jesse passed away days after on Aug. 4, 2016.
