Arrests Made After Hostile Boardwalk Crowds Gather

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City Police, joined by other allied agencies in the region, faced off with a combative group on the Boardwalk early Sunday morning in the area of 7th Street. After dispersing of the crowd, another unruly gathering took place a few blocks north on the Boardwalk.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday morning, July 24, several police officers were assaulted in the large ruckus and some were struck by bottles being thrown at them by several suspects.

According to police records, seven arrests were made in the 7th Street incident and five individuals were arrested in the 10th Street gathering. Charges ranged from resisting/interfere with arrest, second degree assault and disorderly conduct to failure to obey police, obstructing and hindering and disturbing peace of others.

Despite several assaults on police, no injuries were reported in the hostile incidents.

Among those arrested in the two events were Eric Diamond Haywood, 21, resisting/interfering with arrest and second degree assault; Nickolet Dolores Serrano, 19, disorderly conduct; Jayvon Montez Jackson, 19, second degree assault, resisting/interfering with arrest and failing to obey; Savanah Valencia Nelson, 21, resisting/interfering with arrest, disorderly conduct and failing to obey; Tuflah Davies, 19, resisting/interfering with arrest, CDS possession not marijuana, CDS possession paraphernalia and disorderly conduct; Emmanuel Kwame Asenso, 22, second degree assault, resisting/interfering with arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing and hindering; and Romelo Darnelle Vandyke, 20, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, obstructing and hindering and disturbing the peace.
