Berlin Little League All Stars Advance

BERLIN- The Berlin Little League’s 10-11 All-Star team beat West Salisbury, 11-4, on Monday to claim the District 8 championship and advance to the state tournament.

The 10-11 team beat Delmar, 5-1, last Tuesday and followed that up with a 7-5 win over West Salisbury last Saturday. On Monday, Berlin faced West Salisbury again and cruised to the 17-4 victory to claim the District 8 championship.

The Berlin All-Star 9-10 team rolled through its first three games in the District 8 tournament before falling to Fruitland on Monday. The 9-10 team beat Delmar, 9-7, topped West Salisbury, 17-8, clobbered East Wicomico, 16-1, before falling to Fruitland, 10-4, on the road on Monday.

The Berlin Major League All-Star team got off to a fast start in the district tournament, beating Somerset, 21-0, last Wednesday before topping East Wicomico last Sunday. The Major League team played Willards on Thursday in a game played too late to be included in this edition.

The Berlin Senior League All-Star team won the District 8 championship earlier this month and is now playing in the state tournament, but has found tough sledding in the early going. Berlin lost to District 6 representative Talbot, 10-8, in a close one on Sunday after battling back from a big early deficit, then fell to District 3 representative St. Mary’s, 22-12, in a high scoring game on Monday, but remained in contention as of mid-week.
