Seahawks Solid In State Championship Meet

BERLIN- A handful of Stephen Decatur varsity track athletes competed last week in the state 3A championship meet and returned some solid results.

In the girls’ shot put event, Decatur’s Dayona Godwin finished fifth overall. Godwin advanced to the state championship meet by winning the 3A-East regional championship in the shot put a week earlier. Incidentally, Godwin this winter set the school career scoring mark in girls’ varsity basketball.

In other events, Decatur’s Brett Kim finished eighth overall and Evan Haas finished 10^th in the pole vault event at the state championship meet. In the boys’ high jump event, Decatur’s Ryan Beach finished 12^th, while Malea Saunders finished 13^th in the girls’ high jump event.
