BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team stayed on a major late season roll last week, thrashing Bennett on the road, 15-2, to improve to 9-1.
Since their only loss of the season to Cape Henlopen, 9-8, back on April 11, the Seahawks have reeled off five straight including an 18-0 win over Wicomico last Wednesday and the 15-2 win over Bennett on Friday. The last big test for the Decatur girls was a narrow 8-7 win over Queen Anne’s on April 19, a team they would likely face in the Bayside Conference championship.
Otherwise, the Seahawks have been dominating over the last week and a half or so. In the last three games, for example, all of which were easy wins, Decatur has outscored its opponents by a combined 51-4. It gets a little tougher for the Seahawks on Friday when they host cross-town rival Worcester Prep. While they play in different leagues, it’s almost always a close, tough game when the familiar rivals meet. Game time is set for 5:5 p.m. at Seahawk Stadium.
