BERLIN- The Bayside Conference championship wrestling tournament gets underway this afternoon with Decatur well represented in each weight bracket.
At 106, Robert Kaminski earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of the match between Mardela’s Logan Trader and Cambridge-South Dorchester’s Xavier Spence. At 113, Decatur’s Josh Lawson will face Zach Peters of Cambridge-South Dorchester in the first round.
At 120, Jeremy Danner will face Sinan Al-Smadi of Parkside in his opener. At 126, Decatur’s Carl Echols and Parkside’s Nathan Sherburn each earned first-round bye and will face each other in the second round. Andy McKahan will face North Dorchester’s Rich Webster in his first-round bout.
At 138, Robert Scafone will face Snow Hill’s Damian Frye-Beatty in the first round. Adam McInerney will face Parkside’s Brady Smith in his opener. At 152, Lucas Layton will face Keyshawn Dale of Bennett in his first-round bout.
In his first-round match at 160, Decatur’s Tyler Vansice will face Queen Anne’s David Colburn. At 170, Spencer Kaminski will face Cambridge-South Dorcester’s Harrison Spies. Caleb Bourne earned a first-round bye at 182 and will face the winner of the bout between Gabe Dennis of Snow Hill and Keane Shanahan of Queen Anne’s in the second round.
At 195, Decatur’s Dryden Brous and Wicomico’s Isaac Lawson each earned first-round byes and will face each other in the second round. At 220, Decatur’s Jian Joobeen earned a first-round bye and will face Jordan Mills of Bennett in the second round. At 285, Decatur’s Gavin Payne will face Jacob Schulze of North Caroline in the first round.
