BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team showed few ill effects from a long holiday break, routing visiting Gunston, 33-8, on Wednesday to improve to 6-2 on the season.

The Mallards enjoyed success in the first portion of the season, but had not played since a 45-35 win over Delmarva Christian way back on December 16. While the Worcester boys team played in the Governor’s Challenge tournament during the holiday break, the girls had nearly a three-week layoff. The Mallards showed little rust on Wednesday, dismantling the Herons, 33-8, at home. Worcester scored early and often and led 27-4 after three quarters, but Gunston doubled its point total in the final period. The Worcester girls play at home against Salisbury Christian on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
