Worcester Girls Finish With Momentum

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team beat Delmarva Christian, 45-35, last week to head into the holiday break with an impressive 6-2 record.

The Mallards started the season with a win one, lose one pattern, but started to gain some momentum in the final stretches of the first half of the season with three straight wins. The Worcester beat Salisbury School, Holly Grove, 39-17, and Delmarva Christian, 45-35, last Wednesday in the finale before the holiday break.

Against Delmarva Christian, Karlie Southcomb led the way with 12 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Melissa Laws added eight points and five rebounds, while Leigh Lingo scored seven and added six steals. The Mallards return to action after the holiday break with home games against Gunston on January 6 and Salisbury Christian on January 8. The Worcester girls don’t hit the road again until a January 11 rematch with Nandua.
