BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity cross country teams turned in solid performances in the Bayside Conference championship meet, finishing high in the team standings while placing several individual runners near the top of their respective divisions.
The Decatur boys’ finished second overall in the Bayside Conference championship meet at Cambridge last Thursday with 59 total team points. Kent Island was first with just 41 points, while Cambridge-South Dorchester was third with 116 and Parkside was fourth with 124.
For the Seahawks, Cameron James finished seventh overall, while Jared Massey was 10th and Javier Hernandez was 11th. Rounding out the Decatur runners finishing in the top 50 were Jack Reimer (15th), Chance Coley (16th), Ethan Janson (35th) and Matt Alvarado (48th).
On the girls’ side, Decatur finished fourth overall with 74 points. North Caroline was first with 37 points, Kent Island was second with 51 and Queen Anne’s was third with 72. Among the top finishers for the Decatur girls were Alison Alvarado (6th), Kailey Andrews (17th), Nellie Dehart (24th), Peyton Dunham (26th), Isabella Bartholomew (32nd) and Maya Knepp (33rd).
