Decatur Golfers Solid In State Match

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s representatives at the Maryland state high school golf championships acquitted themselves well with strong finishes in the men’s individual title matches.

For the first time in several years, Decatur narrowly missed qualifying as a team for the state championship match at the University of Maryland course last week. However, Decatur did send two individuals to compete in the state championships in College Park including Matt Kristick and Tanner Leonard.

Kristick turned in a consistent solid performance with a pair of matching rounds of 76 to finish at 152 and 18th overall among the 81 male golfers competing. Leonard was also solid, shooting a 79 in his opening round and an 87 in the second round to finish with a 166 and in 67th place.
