Brown Box Theatre Returning To Shore In November

OCEAN CITY — Brown Box Theatre Project has announced the world premiere production of Lab Rats by Boston playwright Patrick Gabridge.

Lab Rats is a sharply comic love story that poignantly examines the raw connection between two damaged humans as they struggle to redefine what it means to escape. Brown Box Theatre Project is excited to continue their relationship with Delmarva audiences by following performances in Boston with a tour to Salisbury and Ocean City. The show will run from Nov. 19-23.

Characters Mika and Jake earn a slim living as test subjects in medical experiments. When their waiting room banter deepens into a real relationship, these drifting 20-somethings must navigate a treacherous maze of emotion, trust and survival as their carefully monitored and medicated lives bleed into their true selves.

Patrick Gabridge has written numerous plays, including Distant Neighbors, Fire on Earth, Flight, Constant State of Panic, Blinders, and Reading the Mind of God, which have been staged by theaters across the country. Gabridge has just released his third novel, Steering to Freedom: From Slave to Civil War Hero.

Brown Box Theatre Project’s mission is to bring high-quality theatre to communities that otherwise lack access to the performing arts. The constant goal in all their programming is to bring down barriers that separate potential audiences from live theatre and to introduce the performing arts to the widest audience possible.

The local schedule is Thursday, Nov. 19, Headquarters LIVE! | 115 South Division Street, Salisbury; Friday, Nov. 20, Ocean City Center for the Arts; Saturday, Nov. 21, Ocean City Center for the Arts; Sunday, Nov. 22, Ocean City Center for the Arts; and Monday, Nov. 23, Ocean City Center for the Arts.

All performances start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $26.50 apiece.
