BERLIN- It took a little while to get going, but Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team took care of business this week with a 4-1 win over Holly Grove at home on Monday.

The two teams played nearly a scoreless first half before Holly Grove got on the board with a goal with just a minute remaining in the period. Holly Grove led 1-0 through much of the first part of the second half before Tate Shockley got Worcester on the board with a goal about 20 minutes into the period.

About a minute later, Owen Nally converted an assist from Tucker Brown to give the Mallards their first lead of the game at 2-1. With 22 minutes remaining in the game, Nally passed to Patrick Petrara in the middle of the field and Petrara converted the assist to extend Worcester’s lead to 3-1.

With about 18 minutes left, Elio Telo fired a nice crossing pass from the left corner and Nally fired it home on a one-touch kick to round out the scoring at 4-1. With the win, Worcester rebounded from a 2-0 loss to Indian River last Friday, which was only the Mallards’ second loss of the season. Worcester also lost to Laurel back on September 21.

Worcester’s record now stands at 7-2 on the season. The Mallards will face Delmarva Christian at home on Friday for Senior Day and the final game of the regular season before the ESIAC playoffs get underway next week.
