Local Runners Excel At Tidewater Classic

SALISBURY- Local high school cross country runners fared well in the annual Tidewater Fall Classic last week at Winterplace Park in Salisbury with several turning in strong finishes.

For the record, on the men’s side, Northwest finished first, Sussex Tech finished second and Caesar Rodney finished third. Decatur was fifth overall in the team standings, while Worcester Prep finished 18th. In the men’s individual standings, Branson Oduor of Northwest was first, Ben Bamforth of Sussex Tech was second and Brian Perry of Polytech was third.

A total of 273 male runners from all over the region competed in the Tidewater Fall Classic last week and several from area high schools finished in the top 100. Among the top finishers from local high schools were Carter Hill of Worcester Prep (18th), Jack Reimer of Decatur (25th), Cameron James of Decatur (29th), Javier Hernandez of Decatur (30th), Trent Marshall of Worcester (89th), Chance Coley of Snow Hill (95th), and Evan Mansfield of Snow Hill (97th).

On the girls’ side, Northwest finished first, Caesar Rodney finished second and Sussex Tech finished third. The Decatur girls finished 11th overall as a team and Worcester finished 18th. Kathryn Gearhart of Easton was the top female finisher, Roxanne Ramirez of Sussex Tech was second and Emma Tvelia of Kent Island was third.

Among the top 100 finishers from area schools were Rachel Savage of Decatur (22nd), Peyton Dunham of Decatur (34th), Alison Alvarado of Decatur (37th), Emily Mast of Snow Hill (39th), Emily McAllister of Snow Hill (62nd, Nellie Dehart of Decatur (78th), Kailey Andrews of Decatur (83rd), Isabella Bartholomew of Decatur (84th), Annemarie Cherry of Worcester (85th) and Devin Graybill of Decatur (92nd).
