OCEAN CITY — A Virginia man was arrested on multiple weapons charges after a Boardwalk business owner reported seeing him with a semi-automatic handgun in the downtown Ocean City area.

Around 12:45 a.m. last Saturday, a Boardwalk business owner alerted Ocean City Police of a man with a gun on the Boardwalk in the downtown area. The suspect had not made any threats with the weapon, but was visible to Boardwalk patrons. Using the City Watch camera system, Ocean City Communications staff was able to locate and track the suspect in the area of 7th Street and the Boardwalk and officers quickly responded.

OCPD officers located the suspect, identified as Mohammed Imani, 20, of Woodbridge, Va., and detained him without further incident. OCPD officers located a semi-automatic handgun on Imani’s person and it was determined the weapon had been reported stolen from Spotsylvania County Va.

Imani was arrested and charged with multiple counts including possession of a stolen handgun. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was transferred to the Worcester County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
