Worcester County Arts Council Awards $10K In Community Grants

BERLIN — The Worcester County Arts Council has awarded $10,000 in its Community Arts Development Grants program to eight art projects and events to be presented by local nonprofit arts organizations.

Funding will support a wide variety of creative and innovative projects that are of outstanding artistic quality and demonstrate community benefit enhancing the lives of everyone living and visiting the Worcester County. Grant projects are evaluated based on overall quality of cultural excellence, community outreach and public impact, and financial/administrative merit.

Organizations and their projects that are being awarded a Community Arts Development Grant for the current granting period include the Art League of Ocean City, various art exhibits; Berlin Heritage Foundation, Berlin Peach Festival; Brown Box Theatre Project, Free Shakespeare Performances, “The Taming of the Shrew”; Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, various performances; Pine Tones Chorus, Winter Concert Series; Town of Berlin/Berlin Arts & Entertainment, Musicians on Main Street; Town of Snow Hill, First Fridays Celebrations; and the Town of Snow Hill, Rock the River Music Festival.

The Worcester County Arts Council’s Community Arts Development Grants program is designed to assist local community-based groups produce and present arts activities in Worcester County and is funded and supported by the Maryland State Arts Council. The next deadline for grants submission is Oct. 15.
