Elkridge Man Killed In Route 90 Accident

BERLIN — An Elkridge, Md. man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident at the Route 90 ramp onto Route 50 early last Monday morning.

Around 3:40 a.m. on Monday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle collision in the area of the Route 90 ramp east of Route 50. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1997 Chevy SUV, driven by Travis Antonio Irving, 32, was traveling westbound on Route 90 when the vehicle left the road. Witness statements and evidence collected indicate the vehicle left the side of the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest.

The preliminary investigation revealed Irving was not restrained by a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Irving, the drive and sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased upon the arrival of medical personnel. The deceased was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Westbound Route 90 was closed from the time of the collision until roughly two hours later as the investigation was undertaken and the incident was cleared.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the Berlin Fire Department and the Maryland State Highway Administration assisted the MSP with the incident.
