OCEAN CITY — On Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14 at 6:30 p.m., the Carousel Group and Carousel Resort Hotel will present special guest soloist and 2006 World Figure skating champion Kimmie Meissner.

This summer marks the 14th season the Carousel has presented a Baltimore-based dance company on ice, The Next Ice Age. The show runs all summer but Meissner’s limited engagement is only scheduled for the opening weekend.

This will mark her first professional appearance at the Carousel as well as with The Next Ice Age.

“We are so proud to be working with Kimmie,” said The Next Ice Age Executive Director Nathan Birch.

Michael James of the Carousel Group/Hospitality Partners said his guests will be in for a treat when Meissner performs at the only ice skating rink in Ocean City.

“She is Maryland’s most recognized figure skater, and we know our audience will appreciate her artistry and beauty,” said James.

Meissner is the 2006 World champion, the 2007 U.S. national champion and the 2007 Four Continents champion. She is the first American and the first lady to simultaneously hold the World, Four Continents and National Titles.

In 2005, Meissner became the second American woman to land the triple axel jump in national competition. She was a member of the 2006 Olympic team and was the youngest American athlete to compete at those Games. She finished sixth at the Olympics in February 2006 and won the World Championships the following month.

The Carousel Ice Shows last approximately 30 minutes and are free to hotel guests and the public.  All shows begin at 6:30 p.m. and are standing room only.  There is limited reserved space for dining during the show.
