BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity outdoor track teams turned in solid performances at the Bayside Championship meet last week and collected some top individuals honors along the way.
The Decatur girls finished fourth overall as a team with 76 points. Kent Island was first, North Caroline was second and Cambridge-South Dorchester was third. The Decatur boys finished eighth overall. Again, Kent Island was first, North Caroline was second and Wicomico was third.
On the girls’ side, Rebecca Lederman had a great meet, finishing second in the 400, third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Emily Cook finished second in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles. Alison Alvarado was seventh in the 3,200 and ninth in the 1,600. In the relays, the Decatur girls finished fifth in both the 4×100 and 4×800 and eighth in the 4×400.
In the field events, Hannah Wilson finished fourth in the high jump, while Bethany Williams was fifth. Wilson also finished second in the pole vault and Williams was ninth in the triple jump. Amari Harmon was fourth in the long jump, Alisa Purnell was fourth in the discus and Takia Long was fourth in the shot put.
On the boys’ side, Kevin Herbert was sixth in the 1,600 and seventh in the 3,200. Parker Harrington was eighth in the 800 and 10th in the 400. Ruben Ortega was fifth in the 300 hurdles and Jakhai Woodard was sixth in the 200. In the field events, Adam Kristick was eighth in the pole vault, Woodard was ninth in the long jump, Montez Green was ninth and Gerrardo Navarra was 10th in the discus.
