Ada L. and Lester A. Wright

BERLIN — Ada Lee “Midge” and Lester Albert Wright passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

Midge was born in Hurlock to the late Dewey and Delma Fisher on Nov. 12, 1923. She is survived by her sister, Mary Fisher Smith of Berlin, and nieces, Mary Jarrod of Virginia Beach, Bonnie Fisher of Bethesda, Sally Lockler of Cambridge, Sue Tobat (Tom) of Hurlock; and a very special niece, Dawn Rogers (Brooke) of Ocean City Nephews were Sam Fisher (Yvette) of Texas and Mark Smith (Denise) of Hockessin, Del. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Layton, and brothers, William, Robert and John Carroll Fisher, and her niece, Nancy Mastronardi and nephews, Grant Smith and John Fisher, Jr.

Lester was born in Federalsburg to Elbert and Sally Wright on Nov. 28, 1924. He is survived by nephews, Richard Wright (Pat) of Greenwood, Del. and Wally Wright of Virginia, and niece, Janice Wheatley of Federalsburg. He is predeceased by brothers, Grover, Norman and Kenneth Wright.

They were married in 1944 living in Federalsburg when Lester joined the United States Army on April 26, 1946 serving his country faithfully with the 743rd AAA BN in Manila, Philippines as a clerical clerk until his discharge on July 2, 1947. They later moved to Berlin in 1954 to own a car dealership for many years.

Lester enjoyed spending time at a lodge in Assateague with friends hunting and fishing. Midge was a secretary for most of her life recently retiring from Moore & Co. after 25 years. Midge had a keen mind and was an avid reader.

Having no children of their own, “Aunt Midge and Uncle Lester” doted on their nieces and nephews from sleepovers in the attic to days on the beach and enjoying favorite meals. Many wonderful memories were made.

There will be a private service for the family at a future date. Friends may honor Midge and Lester through donation to the Worcester County Library Foundation, services for the visually impaired at 307 N. Washington Street, Snow Hill, Md. 21863.

Robert Earl Benson

OCEAN CITY — Robert “Roach” Earl Benson passed away suddenly on April 2, 2014 while preparing for work at Emergency Services in Ocean City.

Bob moved to Ocean City from Mont Claire, Va. after working for years as an engineering contractor in Washington, D.C.

Bob is survived by his current wife, Sharon Lutz, of Phoenix, Ariz., and his ex-wife, Sandra Benson, of Annapolis. Bob lost his wife, Sylvia, in 2006. He is survived by his daughter, Tina Benson, and two grandchildren, Sarah and Madeline Benson of Hurlock. Also surviving are his mother, Marie Benson; a sister, Christine Tilman; and three brothers, Tommy and David of Annapolis and John of Goldsboro.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, John Benson.

Bob joined the Navy shortly after graduation in 1965. Bob loved being a volunteer fireman and was a member of Water Witch Hook and Ladder.

A memorial gathering will be held on April 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the American Legion, 2308 Philadelphia Ave. in Ocean City.
