See-Saw Season Continues For Seahawks

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity softball team’s topsy-turvy season continued last week with a 10-0 loss to Bennett to fall to 3-2 on the year.

The Seahawks ran into a buzz saw in Bennett pitcher Kasey Donalds last Friday. Donalds pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out 11 Seahawks on her way to the win. Taylor Black collected the only hit for Decatur, which could get nothing going on offense.

The loss continued an early season pattern for the Seahawks, who saw their record drop to 3-2. Decatur was dominant in a 15-2 win over Pocomoke in its opener, then lost to Mardela in its second game, 10-0. The Seahawks then won two in a row, beating Washington, 13-3, and Parkside, 5-3, before the 10-0 loss to Bennett last Friday. Both of their losses have come by 10-0 scores.

The Seahawks face North Caroline at home this afternoon, then get a chance at a rematch with Mardela at home on Monday. After that, Decatur hits the road for three straight against Crisfield, Snow Hill and Parkside.
