OCEAN CITY — The Ocean City Mayor and Council recently recognized resident Phil Reid as Ocean City Recreation Boosters’ Volunteer of the Year.

Reid was recognized for his significant contributions as a member of the OC Recreation Boosters, supporting Ocean City Recreation youth programs.

“I cannot tell you how much his compassion and wiliness to serve is an inspiration for us all,” said Reba A. Felty, OC Recreation Boosters President.  “Phil has been with us for two years and has quickly become a priceless asset to the Boosters and to the Ocean City community.”

During his time with the Boosters Reid has worked countless hours, in a variety of functions, and for numerous events and programs, including the OC University Graduate program, the OC Police Academy, Swing for Youth Golf Tournament, Christmas with Santa at Northside Park, Winterfest of Lights, Easter Bunny Fun Shop, Election Day, Sundaes in the Park, Sunset Park Party Nights, Springfest, Sunfest, Operation Clean Sweep, Halloween Spook-Out Party at Northside Park, and the Mayor’s New Year’s Day Open House.

“Volunteers are worth their weight in gold. People like Phil, sharing their time and talents without any compensation, are crucial to making a difference,” said Felty. “We are fortunate to have him. Anyone knowing Phil Reid quickly learns that ‘It’s all about giving back,’ is one of his favorite mantras.”

Reid is also a member of Ocean City Board of Adjustment and Appeals and he and his wife Donna are residents of Ocean City.
