Worcester Boys Stay on Major Roll

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team stayed on a major roll last week, winning three games in four days to improve to 8-1 on the season.

The Mallards showed no signs of rust after the holiday break, winning three straight to start to the second half of the season. With the three wins last week, Worcester has now won seven in a row dating back to December. The Mallards record now stands at 8-1, their only loss coming in a narrow 51-49 defeat to Salisbury Christian way back on December 3.

In their first game after the long holiday break last Tuesday, the Mallards beat Chincoteague, 54-18. The next day, Worcester routed Salisbury School, 66-35. Last Friday, the Mallards knocked off Delaware’s St. Thomas More, 50-40. Against St. Thomas More, the Mallards jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one and built the lead to 28-15 by halftime. Worcester led 39-23 after three quarters, but St. Thomas More outscored the Mallards, 17-11, in the final period to cut the lead to 50-40.
