Beach Lax Set for 21st Season on Shore

BERLIN- The Beach Lacrosse Program, which is about to enter its 21st season in Worcester County, is now holding registration and has a few events planned for this month and next.

Beach Lacrosse is the original youth lacrosse program in the county and was founded in 1994, providing the very first spring season of organized youth recreational lacrosse on the Lower Shore. The program now has over 300 young players competing in recreational lacrosse from pre-K to 8th grade. The mission of the non-profit charitable organization is to provide area youth with the opportunity to learn and compete in the oldest game native to North America in a sportsmanlike manner.

Beach Lacrosse again this year will field multiple teams for boys and girls in several age categories including under-9, under-11, under-13 and under-15. For children in pre-K and kindergarten just starting out, a Scooper’s program is offered for boys and girls. Beach Lacrosse is a member of the Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association and plays teams from across the shore including Salisbury, Cambridge, Easton, Kent Island, Denton, Lewes and Camden.

All practices and home games are held in Berlin. Practice will start at the beginning of March with games, which are held on Saturdays, set to begin on March 22. Registration is now open at www.beachlax.org. Financial assistance is available for anyone in need.

On Thursday, January 23, Beach Lacrosse’s annual Parents Meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront Conference Center at 66th Street at 6:30 p.m. and all parents of current and future players are welcome to attend. On Friday, February 21, a fundraiser will be held at the Cork Bar on Wicomico Street beginning at 7 p.m. The fundraiser will support new equipment purchases for the upcoming season.

Beach Lacrosse is also actively seeking volunteer coaching assistance at all grade levels as well as volunteers for various activities that support the club. For questions or more information, contact the club at [email protected].
