Decatur Harriers Compete at States

BERLIN- The six Stephen Decatur girls’ varsity cross country runners that qualified for the state championship meet last weekend did well despite unfamiliar conditions.
Decatur sent six runners from the girls’ varsity cross country team to the state championship meet at McDaniel College in western Maryland last Saturday. For years, Decatur cross country runners have been at a competitive disadvantage during the state championships on the other side of the Chesapeake because of the terrain and this year was no different on the rolling hills of the McDaniel College course.
Nonetheless, the Seahawks performed well. Alison Alvarado was the top Decatur finisher, coming in at 83rd. Chloe FauntLeroy was 112th, Katie Collins was 114th, Meya Chilengi was 135th, Alex McKahan was 141st and Katie Hofman was 149th.
