Decatur Volleyball Bows Out of Tourney

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity volleyball team made a quick exit out of the state 3A-South region tournament last week, falling to Northeast of Anne Arundel County, 3-1, in its opening match.
The Seahawks entered the 3A-South Section I tournament as the number-four seed and faced fifth-seeded Northeast in the first round at home last Friday. Northeast took the first game, 25-14, but Decatur rebounded and won the second game, 25-22. However, Northeast then swept the next two games, 25-18 and 25-17, to advance.
Northeast then upset top-seeded Bennett, 3-2, in the second round to advance to the sectional final. For Decatur against Northeast, Sammi Quilter had 13 digs, Kayla Heinz had six assists and Taylor Black had five kills and two blocks.
