BERLIN — An unidentified local man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Route 50 at Sam Bowen Blvd. on Thursday morning.
Around 10 a.m. on Thursday, a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 50 near Sam Bowen Blvd. near the Wal-Mart and Home Depot shopping complex and across from the Glen Riddle community left the roadway, traveled across a field and crashed into a ditch.
The unidentified driver, confirmed only as a local man around 53 years old by Maryland State Police late Thursday, did not survive the crash and was declared deceased at the scene.
A State Police official said late Thursday the victim’s name was not being released pending identification of next of kin and other loose ends related to the investigation.
The investigation remained open as of late Thursday.
