Decatur Golfers Win Match, Improve to 4-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team continued its early season dominance in the Bayside South, outpacing the field in a match at Ocean Pines on Tuesday to improve to 4-0.
Decatur shot a team-low 157 to win its fourth straight match to start the season. Washington High was the next closest with a team score of 183, followed by Bennett at 192. Decatur was led by Delaney Iacona, who shot a match-low 37 to earn the first-place medal. Matt Kristick shot 39, while Andrew Urban shot a 40, Brooks Holloway finished in 41 and Danny Parker shot a 44.
After four matches, Decatur now has the top four golfers in the Bayside South and another tied for fifth. Urban leads the conference with a 38.25 average, while Kristick is second at 38.5, Iacona is third at 39 and Parker is a 39.5 average. Holloway is tied with Chase Benton of Washington High with an average of 40.
At 4-0, Decatur leads the Bayside South with just four total points. A win is counted as one point, with two points for a second-place finish and three points for third and so on. Washington is in second place with eight points, followed by Bennett in third with 12 and Parkside in fourth with 16.
