BERLIN- Two Stephen Decatur girls’ varsity lacrosse standouts have been named to the Brine National High School All-American team and will represent their school at the Brine National Lacrosse Classic that gets underway this weekend.
Decatur attackmen Cassidy Remmell and Blair Yesko, who each played an important role on Decatur’s varsity team this year that went 10-2 and earned a share of the Bayside Conference championship, have each been named to the Brine National All-American team. Remmell, who was chosen to play for the North Carolina team, and Yesko, who was selected to the Washington, D.C. area team, are headed to the Brine National Lacrosse Classic at the Maryland Soccerplex, which gets underway this weekend.
Entering its sixth year, the Brine National Lacrosse Classic and All-Star Lacrosse Academy brings together some of the finest players and coaches from all over the country for the three-day event each summer. The event offers players a chance to compete against some of the top players in the country while gaining some exposure in front of coaches and scouts at the next level.
Tryouts were held for high school players at different regional locations all over the country and Yesko was chosen to compete for the Washington, D.C. team. She was the only player from an Eastern Shore high school chosen for the team. Each team carries 20 players and there are 14 regional teams for a total of 280 players. The players check in on Sunday and practices, games, seminars and other activities are set for July 1-2. The event culminates with regional playoffs and championship games on July 3.
