BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team earned a split decision this week, routing Roosevelt, 19-6, last Thursday before falling to Indian River, 10-8, on Tuesday.
After losing their first four games, the Mallards scratched and clawed their way back to the .500 mark last week at 6-6 after routing Eleanor Roosevelt, 19-6. Just about everybody got into the action including Harrison Brennan, who scored nine goals and dished out an assist. Jack Marshall scored two goals and three assists, Sam Deeley scored three goals, Gordon Abercrombie scored two goals and two assists and Wyatt Richins had a goal and two assists. Keeper Wade Walter had eight saves against Roosevelt.
On Tuesday, however, Worcester fell to a tough Indian River team on the road, 10-8, to drop back to 6-7 on the year. Marshall led the Mallards with two goals and an assist, while Abercrombie scored twice. Brennan had a goal and an assist, while Walter recorded 13 saves. The Mallards face St. Andrew’s on the road this afternoon in the regular season finale. Worcester will host a MILL tournament semifinal game against an opponent yet to be determined next Tuesday.
