Mallards Run Winning Streak to Nine

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team ran its nearly season-long winning streak to nine games with a pair of wins last week.

After dropping their first game of the season to Garrison Forest way back on March 28, the Mallards have run off nine straight wins in impressive fashion. The latest two came with a 22-2 win over ESIAC rival Salisbury School last Wednesday on the road. Ironically, 22-2 was the exact same score by which the Mallards beat the Dragons at home a week earlier. Worcester followed the 22-2 win over Salisbury School with an 18-12 win over Calverton at home last Friday.

During the nine game winning streak, the Mallards have outscored their opponents by a combined 153-36. Worcester is averaging 17 goals per game during the winning streak, while allowing an average of six goals. The closest game during the streak was a narrow 9-8 win over Howard in the tournament on March 30. Worcester plays Cape Henlopen on the road next Tuesday and will finish the regular season with a home game against Sussex Tech next Thursday.
