Seahawks Remain Unbeaten at 9-0

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity softball team won three games this week including a tight 4-3 win over previously unbeaten and old nemesis Mardela to improve to 9-0 on the season.

The Seahawks started week with an 8-6 win over Wicomico last Thursday, the edged unbeaten Mardela, 4-3, in a rare Saturday game. Against Mardela, Jessica Iacona pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out three Warriors. Taylor Black was a big contributor at the plate, collecting two hits and driving in a run.

Back in action again on Monday, the Seahawks cruised past Chincoteague, taming the Ponies, 7-1. Iacona was back on the mound and allowed just one hit while striking out six. Iacona helped her own cause at the plate, collecting three hits and driving in a run. Black had two hits and three RBIs, while Beth Laque had two hits and an RBI. The Seahawks face Crisfield at home on Monday.
