Seahawks Continue Early Onslaught

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity softball team continued its assault on Bayside Conference competition this week, routing Washington, 22-0, on Tuesday to improve to 3-0.

The Seahawks have been dominant thus far early in the season, outscoring their first three opponents by an combined 55-6 and are averaging over 18 runs per game while allowing an average of 2 runs per game. After routing Pocomoke, 19-4, in the season opener, Decatur beat Crisfield, 14-2, last Friday on a complete game, two-hit performance by pitcher Beth Laque.

Back in action on Tuesday, the Seahawks cruised past Washington, 22-0, in a game shortened by the slaughter rule. The Seahawks faced Snow Hill on the road yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition, and will play a non-conference game against Indian River on the road this afternoon. After that, the Seahawks hit the meat of their conference schedule with games next week against Parkside, Bennett, Wicomico and Mardela.
