OCEAN CITY- Former Ocean City Police Chief Bernadette DiPino, who became the Chief of Police in Sarasota on January 1, threw out the first pitch of the Baltimore Orioles’ spring training game last weekend.
DiPino, who left the position of Ocean City Police Chief late last year after getting appointed to the same position in Sarasota, threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Orioles’ spring training home game against the Philadelphia Phillies last Saturday at Ed Smith Stadium. The Orioles went on to win the game 12-3 to continue an early run of success in spring training games.
DiPino is a life-long Orioles fan after growing up in and starting her professional law enforcement career in the Baltimore area. She was a fourth-generation Baltimore County police officer before her 24-year career with the OCPD including the last nine as Chief of Police. She officially began her duties as Chief of Police in Sarasota, the spring training home of the Orioles, on January 1 and made an immediate impact when she single-handedly apprehended a suspect in a knife attack at a downtown Sarasota New Year’s Celebration.
