BERLIN — Twenty individuals from The Worship Center in Berlin recently returned home after spending a week’s vacation on a missions’ trip to Cuenca, Ecuador.
The Worship Center is a regular supporter of Unsion Ministries, an Assembly of God mission in Cuenca. This is the fifth missions trip sponsored by The Worship Center to provide assistance to the people of Ecuador.
This year the team, consisting of 16 adults and 4 teens, provided free medical screenings, medications, dental cleanings, construction assistance and one-on-one sharing of the love of Christ.
Featured live on the Unsion TV network daily talk show, “En Familia,” members of the team explained why they were in Cuenca and what the team hoped to accomplish. Dr. Andrea Mathias personally invited the public to the free clinic for basic health screenings.
About 150 free tickets were issued each day and the medical team provided services to over 500 patients who came in for screenings. In addition to medical services, team members also provided 100 meals to the poor and homeless.
The youth on the team provided face painting and goodies to approximately 300 children on site at the Unsion Medical Clinic and visited two local orphanages and one large school, providing gifts and hugs to approximately 700 additional children and elderly residents.
All the while, the construction team turned an unimproved property into a new parking lot for Unsion staff members. The newly acquired lot was located on the opposite side of a block wall, which the team demolished and removed from the site. Television set construction and other improvements were also accomplished inside the network center of operations.
The missions team desired this week to publicly thank the many generous local donors of toys, candy, tools, clothes, medical supplies and medications, and only wishes these donors could each experience personally the genuine heartfelt gratitude expressed by the lovely people of Cuenca. According to team members, it was truly overwhelming to see how just one small bottle of vitamins was received with the joy and thanksgiving of a precious and valuable prize.
Plans are already underway for the next missions’ trip, which will include clinics in Amazon villages near Cuenca. If you would like more information or have supplies you would like to donate for the upcoming mission, contact the church office at 410-641-3325.
