Bank Appointment
SALISBURY – Shore Bank President and Chief Executive Officer W. Thomas Mears announced that Jean H. Sewell, CPA, CGMA, CFMP has been appointed to Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing for Shore Bank.
Sewell brings 30 years of diverse business and banking experience in marketing, strategic planning, service and sales management, operations, finance and accounting. She will be based in the South Salisbury office.
Prior to joining Shore Bank, Sewell was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The National Bank of Cambridge. From 2007 to 2010, following the acquisition of Mercantile Peninsula Bank, Sewell served at PNC Bank as Senior Vice President and Regional Manager with overall responsibility for 17 branches in Wicomico and Worcester Counties. From 1992 to 2007, Sewell was Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing at Mercantile Peninsula Bank, following the acquisition of The Bank of Fruitland, where she was Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.

New Board Chair
OCEAN CITY — Wayne Benson, President & CEO of Bank of Ocean City, along with the Board of Directors, has appointed Hugh Cropper, IV as chairman of its Board of Directors.
Cropper has been a Member of the Board of Directors since 2000 and will replace Sara Jarmon, who will continue to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Cropper’s father, Hugh Cropper, III is also a member of the Board of Directors since 1992. His grandfather, Hugh Thomas Cropper, Jr. served as president of the Bank of Ocean City for many years, and was the former Ocean City mayor.
Cropper is a local attorney and a partner in the firm Cowdrey Thompson, P.C.
Pier 1 To Open
WEST OCEAN CITY – Pier 1 Imports will officially open to the public on Monday Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at White Marlin Mall in West Ocean City.
The Pier 1 Imports store features merchandise that ranges from home accessories such as pillows, candles, vases and picture frames, to full-sized, upholstered furniture, hand-carved armoires and eclectic wall décor.

To celebrate the new White Marlin Mall Pier 1 Imports store that opens on Monday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m., the first 1,000 shoppers will get two free gifts, according to new Manager Frank Pileggi.
BERLIN – Atlantic General Hospital recently appointed two new members to the Board of Directors.
Edwin Castaneda MD, FACP , is an Internist/Hospitalist at Atlantic General Hospital.
Heather E. Stansbury, Esq., is a partner at Ayres, Jenkins, Gordy & Almand, P.A. located in Ocean City where she focuses on family law matters.
Appointed as new corporate members at Atlantic General Hospital were Joan Wharton, Sally Dowling, M.D., Dr. Jon Andes, Lois Sirman, Matt Repass, Charles Nichols, Bill Badger, Gregory Tawes and Velda Henry.
Lab Earns Accreditation
BERLIN — Atlantic General Hospital’s Vascular Laboratory has been granted a three-year term of accreditation in vascular testing in the areas of extracranial cerebrovascular testing, peripheral arterial testing, and peripheral venous testing by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
Accreditation by the IAC means the lab has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.
IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations.
