BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the 18th Annual Bob Rowe Memorial Classic last weekend, finishing fourth overall as a team with several individual wrestlers placing in their respective weight classes.
The annual Bob Rowe Memorial Classic, a mid-winter wrestling tournament honoring the former Wicomico High coach, was held last weekend at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center. The tournament featured 15 of the top programs in the region including Decatur, which finished fourth overall with 159 team points. Sussex Central was first with 225 team points, followed by Sussex Tech with 212, Bethesda-Chevy Chase with 161 and Decatur with 159.
Decatur also did well in the individual weight classes, collecting two championships and placing in sixth others. Decatur’s Nate Rosenblatt took first in the 113-pound class, while Ryan Kail won the 285-pound championship. Kaelan Patterson was second in the 152-pound class, while Andrew Borradaile was second at 160. T.J. Scafone was third in the 106-pound class and Ethan Eibl finished third in the 220-pound class. Jared King was fourth in the 170-pound division, while Adam Bargar finished fifth at 195.
