BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team continued its winning ways this week, blanking St. Thomas More, 2-0, on the road on Tuesday.

The Mallards have now won seven straight since suffering its first loss of the season to Salisbury Christian way back on September 13. That loss ended a Mallards’ winning streak that dated back to 2008, but Worcester has since reeled off seven straight wins including the last four by shutout.

Harrison Brennan and Matt Carey each scored in Worcester’s 2-0 win over St. Thomas More on Tuesday, while Andrew Ternahan had an assist and Alex Ternahan collected four saves. While Worcester has had no trouble putting the ball in the net during the current winning streak, the real story has been the Mallards’ defense.

Worcester has not allowed a goal since a 4-1 win over Delmarva Christian back on September 28. Since then, the Mallards have recorded four straight shutouts including a 3-0 win over Gunston, a 7-0 win over Salisbury School, a 6-0 win over Holly Grove and now a 2-0 win over St. Thomas More.

The Mallards face Gunston at home this afternoon and will take on Delmar at home on Monday. Worcester will wrap its regular season with a home game against Delmarva Christian next Thursday. The ESIAC playoffs are set to begin on October 27.
