Evelyn Armstrong Elliott

OCEAN CITY- Evelyn Armstrong Elliott, 89, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in New York, she was a daughter of the late John Armstrong and Isabella Steel Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sire Elliott, in 1993. Mrs. Elliott was a homemaker. She was a United States Navy veteran having served in the WAVES. She was a member of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City.

She is survived by her children, Lorette Rash and her husband, Robert, of Fairfax, Va.; Robert Quillin of Ocean City; Marsha Mumford and her husband, Jeff, of Ocean City; and Harriett Dobson and her husband, Charles, of Greencastle, Ind.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Rash, Lauren Rash, Stephen Mumford, Daniel Dobson and Adam Dobson; great-grandchildren, Sarah Dobson, Emily Dobson and Elizabeth Dobson; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Ocean City on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. Inurnment to follow immediately at Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 302 N. Baltimore Ave., Ocean City, Md., 21842. Arrangements are being handled by Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

William Edward Beauchemin

BERLIN- William Edward Beauchemin, 88, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edward and Amanda Arscenault Beauchemin. He is survived by his wife Marie Beauchemin. Mr. Beauchemin was a United States Army Veteran. He was an electrical engineer and was recognized as a top engineer in his field.
Along with his wife he is survived by his sons, Alan K. Beauchemin and his 
wife Shannon; Robert B. Beauchemin and his wife Mary; Thomas J. Beauchemin and his wife Lola and Raymond J. Beauchemin; two brothers, Albert Beauchemin and his wife Ruthie and Edward Beauchemin and his wife Pat; two sisters, Cecile Wendland and Irene Carr; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; there are also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. 
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Raymond and Freddie Beauchemin. Services and Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Esther P. Gallacher
OCEAN PINES- Esther P. Gallacher, 79, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her home in Ocean Pines.

Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Esther and John Crow. Esther and her late beloved husband, Lincoln F. Gallacher, moved to Ocean Pines in 1987 after retiring from the Frederick County Public Schools where she worked as a school secretary for 15 years.

Esther was a very faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She stayed active by joining “swimmin women” where she made many great friends. Esther also loved volunteering for the auxiliary at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
She is survived by her sister, Johanne Crafton; her two daughters, Lueanne 
(Dority) White and Karen (Dority) Alfers and her husband Richard; step-daughter, Nina Gould and her husband Gilbert; step-son, David Gallacher and his wife Linda; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ocean City. Interment followed in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21804, or to Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Highway, Ocean City Md. 21842.  Arrangements were handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Gary Lee Mitchell

MILLSBORO- Gary Lee Mitchell, age 59, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware.  

Mr. Mitchell was born on January 13, 1951 in Milford, Delaware to the late Merrill J. and Edith Wootten Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a self-employed poultry grower operating a farm for last 30 years. He was a member of Carey’s United Methodist Church, Millsboro.  Gary Lee had a great sense of humor, was very kindhearted and never held back or afraid to help anyone.  He was very understanding, compassionate, and loved his family.

He is survived by his son, Garrett Mitchell of Millsboro; a brother Bruce Mitchell of Millsboro; a nephew, Merrill Mitchell and wife Joanie; his close friends Ray and Millie Jones and Ed Oakes, all of Millsboro; numerous friends, extended family, and a special canine friend “Lady”.

Services were private and at the discretion of the family. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware.

Michael Joseph DeFiore

BERLIN- Michael Joseph DeFiore, Jr.  79, died Monday October 4, 2010 at his home in Rehoboth, Del.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph DeFiore, Sr. and Rose Ferranti DeFiore. He is survived by his college sweetheart and beloved wife of 55 years, Joanne Pilla DeFiore, and children: Karen DeFiore Allen and her husband Chuck of State College, Pa.; and Michael David DeFiore and his wife Patty of Salisbury, Md. There are four grandchildren: Brian Allen and his wife Lesha of State College, Pa.; Keith Allen and his wife Kristen of Olmstead Falls, Ohio; Chris Allen of Washington, D.C. and Katie DeFiore of Salisbury Md., one great-grandson Michael Rudy Allen, and soon-to-be-born great granddaughter Maggie Mae Allen of Olmstead Falls, Ohio. There are nine nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is a brother Joseph DeFiore and his wife Jenny of Boardman, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter DeFiore  also Boardman, Ohio in 1994.

He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, and received his Masters degree from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland Ohio. Mr. DeFiore had been an educator, teacher, and principal for 30 years at the East Cleveland Schools in Ohio. He had served as Alderman in Rehoboth Beach, for 26 years. He was a member of St. Edmond’s Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach Delaware.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Edmond’s Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach. Rev. Raymond Forester will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
