OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s boys’ winter basketball league continued last week with a full slate of games at Northside Park. The following are some of the highlights from last week’s action:
Maui Golf 38- OC Rec Boosters 35: Marcus Pitts led Maui Golf with 10 points, while Vernell Moore scored seven and Jermaine Purnell added six. Jordan Copes scored 14 for the Boosters in a losing effort.
OC Rec Boosters 60- OC Elks Lodge 49: Breon Smith led the Boosters with 14 points. Jake Seiders had a big day for the Elks with 21 points, while George Moore added eight.
Outback Steakhouse 28- Phillips Crabhouse 26: Travis Carpenter scored 13 points for Outback, while Charles Shockley added six and Timmy Miller pitched in four. Matthew LeCompte scored 14 for Phillips in the loss, while Justin Meekins added 10.
OC Rec Boosters 20- Delmarva Irish 10: Mark Smith scored 10 points to lead the Boosters over the Irish, while Mikhail Beja scored six and Jakob Gelof added four. Tucker Brown scored four for the Irish, while Grant Janek, Mitchell McGee and Joshua Kline each added a bucket.
OC/Berlin Optimists 24- Fresco’s 15: The Optimists got balanced scoring from up and down the roster including Conor May (8), Zach Gelof (7), Charlie Pritchard (4), Reginald Briddell (3) and Grant Brown (2). Tyree Henry led Fresco’s with six points, while Tate Shockley scored five and Julian Tomasello scored four.
Red Sun 40- OC Rec Boosters 33: Wyatt Richins went off for 26 points for Red Sun to lead all scorers, while Will Sass added 12. Demontae Purnell scored 21 points for the Boosters in a losing effort, while Deshawn Wise added five points.
McDonalds 53- OC Rec Boosters 34: Andrew Brickey scored 21 points for McDonalds, which got points from various sources including Steve Tropkoff (7) Grady Anderson (6), and Brian Riebert (5). Zachary Truitt led the Boosters with 13 points, while Matt Tribbitt added 10.
Dr. William Allen DDS 13- PNC Bank 12: Brett Berquist led Dr. Allen’s team with 11 of his team’s 13 points, while Thomas Fager pitched in the other bucket. Bill Wheatly scored half of his team’s points with six, while Parker Wheeler scored four and Max Mariner scored two.
