Jeep Overturns On OP Bridge

OCEAN PINES – A local man was injured last weekend when he rolled his Jeep Wrangler and now faces several traffic violations.

Around 11:15 p.m. last Friday, Maryland State Police responded to the North Gate bridge just off Route 589 in Ocean Pines for a reported single-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, troopers found a Jeep Wrangler on its roof in the middle of the north gate bridge. The investigation revealed the driver, identified as Paul Myers, 52, of Ocean Pines, attempted to cross the bridge at a high rate of speed when he allegedly lost control and straddled the guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Myers was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for minor injuries. According to state police officials, a blood test was taken at the hospital to determine the level of the driver’s alleged intoxication, the results of which are not yet known.

In the meantime, Myers faces 10 traffic charges including negligent driving, failure to control a vehicle to avoid a collision, failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury and/or property damage, driving on a revoked license, driving on a suspended license and speeding among others.
