Development Recognized

SELBYVILLE – Touting its numerous amenities and closeness to Atlantic beaches, Where to Retire magazine recently designated Bayside in Selbyville, Del., as one of America’s 100 Best Master-Planned Communities.

The recognition is given by Where to Retire biennially to communities that “offer excellent lifestyle for retirement.” This year, the magazine’s editors spent nine months reviewing several hundred master-planned communities throughout the country. Their selection included both age restricted active adult communities and ones, such as Bayside, that are open to all ages. The list of the top 100 communities appears in the July/August 2009 issue.

In a congratulatory letter, the magazine publisher remarked that Bayside was “among an elite group of developments that offer today’s retirees a well-rounded, active lifestyle.” The publisher added, “All of the communities are leaders in providing a high quality of life to those who are embarking on new adventures in retirement.”

The lure of Bayside, according to the editors, are its amenities, such as the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, outdoor pools, fitness center, carousel, and outdoor stage, which can be enjoyed by the whole family. They also noted that Bayside is close to the Atlantic beaches and their various attractions, such as the outlets in Rehoboth, Delaware and the restaurants in Ocean City.

A Bayside couple interviewed for the article said their search for a home led them to Bayside because they were “seeking a sense of community” and every year they see something new added to the community’s varied amenities.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of America’s 100 Best Master-Planned Communities,” said Doug Brown of Carl M. Freeman Companies. As a developer, our core purpose is to help people live better and we believe Bayside exemplifies this philosophy.”
