Seahawk Boys Bow Out of States

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team made an early exit from the state playoffs last week, falling to host Easton, 17-6, in the Class 3A-2A East region quarterfinals last Saturday.

The Seahawks ended the regular season on a winning note, beating Kent Island, 18-5, in the season finale, but couldn’t maintain the momentum going into its opening round match-up with Easton on Saturday. The Warriors got out to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter and continued to roll in the second, taking a 9-2 lead into the half to basically settle the issue once and for all. Easton led 14-3 after three quarters and cruised to the 17-6 win. For the Seahawks, the loss ended a chance at a .500 record in what was essentially a rebuilding year. With a lot of young talent returning, Decatur should be in a position to make some noise again next year.

Ben Kelleher and Tyler Bollinger each scored two goals in the playoff loss, while Calvin Snyder and Matt Doherty added single tallies. Despite the lopsided loss, Bernie McGarry was outstanding in goal for the Seahawks with 16 saves.
