Walter B. Brice

BERLIN – Walter B. Brice, 89, of Ocean Pines, passed away on Sunday, April 5 at Atlantic General Hospital. He was the son of the late Edna and Roy M. Brice.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia J. Consalvo Brice; daughters Ellynne Brice Davis of Leonardtown, (James J.) and Gail Poist, (Malcolm) of Frederick; and one granddaughter, Genevieve Poist. Also survived by his nephews, Walter Huff, (Daisy), of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Leroy Brice, (Phyllis) of Florida, and niece, Beverly Werner, (Frank) of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Brice and Frances Huff.

Walter enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and his military occupational specialty was as an Air Observation Pilot. He retired from the US National Guard in 1979. During World War II, Brice participated in the invasion of Europe and was attached to Patton’s Third Army, which advanced into southern Germany. He received numerous decorations and citations. He was a member of VFW Post #8296 in Ocean City and was a 32nd degree mason.

He considered his two proudest lifetime accomplishments as being his family and his military service.

He worked as a linotype operator throughout his life, and at one point worked for the Baltimore Sun.

He and Virginia lived in Maine from 1974 to 1988 where they both enjoyed that state’s scenic beauty, and Walter was able to hunt and fish. They moved to Ocean Pines and he participated in Ocean City’s Beach Replenishment Program.

Services were held. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery on July 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

Josephine Margaret Keiser

OCEAN CITY – Josephine Margaret Keiser passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009.

During her 80 years of life, she touched many lives and inspired others. She was a dedicated and fun-loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Keiser, with whom she spent 63 years of marriage; also her daughters, Frieda Roberts and Pamela Shutt; son-in-law, Stephen Roberts; grandchildren, Lauren Zubrzycki, Lindsey Roberts, Anthony Keiser, and Summer Shutt; sisters, Johanna Yarish, Margaret Paglia, and Rita Lepore; and devoted friend, Reba Felty.

Christina Gloria White

BERLIN – Christina Gloria White, age 76, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer Jones and Clara C. Dietrich Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen White, in 1975 and by her son, George Darrell Brewer, in 2006.

White had been an Administrative Assistant with Century 21 New Horizon Realty and had formerly worked with Crown Cork and Seal and Bethlehem Steel.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelley Nichols and her husband Kenneth of Berlin; a daughter-in-law, Carol Lee Brewer of Baltimore; two grandchildren, Kristofer A. Nichols of Norfolk, Va. and Kyle A. Nichols of Berlin; a brother, Wayne Noha of New Mexico; several nieces and nephews; and two granddogs, Scout and Lily. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Noha.

Frederick A. “Rick” Senger, III

BERLIN – Frederick A. “Rick” Senger, III, 60, of Ocean City and formerly of Baltimore, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frederick A. Jr. and Doris Myers Senger. 

He was a 1966 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. From 1967 to 1973, he was a catcher for the New York Mets AAA farm team. After moving to Ocean City in the 1970s, he owned and operated Coastal Soda Systems, retiring in 2000. He worked for the Transportation Department as a bus driver for the Town of Ocean City. He was a member of Berlin-Ocean City Optimist Club and a life member of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan H. “Susie” Senger; a son, Frederick "Freddie" Senger IV of Ocean City; a sister, Kitty Lepson of Sarasota, Fla.; and a nephew, Bill Lepson of Windsor, Pa.

Charles John Alexander

BERLIN – Charles John Alexander, 89, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Frank and Marry Rose Stanke Alexander. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen S. Alexander.

Alexander was a United States Navy Veteran. He had worked as a longshoreman in the Baltimore Marina.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Alexander; four daughters, Diana Lynn Boze, Cindy Marie Bland and her husband Van Kirk, Mary Louise Hava and Sally Ann Layton; one brother, George Alexander; one sister, Dorothy Schoeberlein; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.

Services were held. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Madeline R. Murphy

OCEAN PINES – Madeline R. Murphy, age 80, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Murphy was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Murphy, Sr.; a daughter, Kimberly Bittner and her husband Steve; a brother, Patrick M. O’Dea and his wife Natalie; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Services were held. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Anna Mae Eck

OCEAN PINES – Anna Mae Eck, 76, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Lee’s Almost Home Assisted Living in Ocean City.

Born in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha Rielly Henry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Eck.

She is survived by a son, Joseph B. Eck and his wife Marlene; two daughters, Joanne Curry and her husband James and Karen Eck and her companion Jeanette Nelson; one sister, Mary Ellen Henry; one grandson, Jason Eck; and two great grandchildren.
