Berlin Junior Dolphins Win Again, Move Closer to Playoffs

BERLIN- The Berlin Junior Dolphins of the Salvation Army Youth Football League stayed on a roll this week, outlasting the Salisbury Black Knights, 28-25, for their fourth straight win to inch closer to a playoff berth.

After losing their season opener, the Dolphins have now won four in a row including last week’s win over the Black Knights. With their record now at 4-1 on the season, the Berlin Dolphins are almost guaranteed a playoff spot with the league’s second best record. The Dolphins trailed the Black Knights, 12-7, at the half, but the offense came alive in the second half with three touchdowns.

Berlin’s Nick Barak scored two long touchdowns on quarterback keepers, and James Mapp also had two touchdowns including a long touchdown pass from Colin Macomber. Both teams traded scores in a fast-paced second half before Berlin came out on top in the end, 28-15. Coach Earnest Shockley had high praise for his team’s comeback and resilience in the second half.

“If we win it all this year, many will look back on this as a pivotal win as a key to our season,” he said. “The Knights gave up everything they had and Berlin’s Dolphins answered back.”
