BERLIN – The Town of Berlin would like to invite everyone to join us in this month’s art stroll on Oct. 10, from 5-8 p.m.
A variety of shops will be keeping their doors open to display local artwork from local artists. The artists will be on hand to answer questions about their works and the shops will have wine and light refreshment. Music will be offered by several establishments. Here a look at what some of the businesses have planned.
The Step Above will have Jeanne Landau Cohen who paints splashes of sensuous watercolors and her wet works are a treat for the eye.
The Water’s Edge will have on display new works by local artists Deb and Bill Rolig during the arts stroll with an opening reception featuring appearances by the artists set for Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6-9 p.m.
William Rolig studied art at York Academy Arts, York, Pa. and Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, majoring in painting. His creative paintings focus on mostly architectural themes in the tradition of Edward Hopper. "I try to bring attention to the beauty of natural sunlight and the play of reflected light in shadow on common, everyday scenes. It all seems to happen in the shadows," he said.
Deborah Rolig graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore with a Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing. She has blended her traditional beginnings with her love of abstract art to create her own unique style. "I work intuitively. My love for the figure usually prevails and the narrative qualities of my paintings invite the viewer to conjure up their own story guided by symbolic imagery and occasionally text. Words are powerful and provide an immediate response and exchange between the artist and the audience. This is the connection I want," she said.
Patrick Henry will have his gallery open and will be on hand to answer questions and show off his many works.
The Worcester County Art Council will have Sharon Himes, a watercolorist, with a show entitled-“woodland Season”.
Liz Lind will be on hand in her new studio and will have many of her works on display.
The Globe Theater will have an open reception of local artists on display in the gallery up stairs. It’s a non-themed show for local artists to display their talents. It will hang through Nov. 23. All local artists are welcome. Email or call Jennifer David to set up an appointment.
