Realtors Join Company

BERLIN – Re/Max Premier Properties announced this week that Leslie Smith and Mia McCarthy of “The Beach Group” have joined the firm’s West Ocean City office.

New Director Named

BERLIN – Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services, Inc (WYFCS) announced this week the recent appointment of Brigitte Saulsbury to the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Program Director position.

Saulsbury began her employment at WYFCS in December 2005 as a Case Manager in the Family Connections program. In September of 2006, she was promoted to the CASA Volunteer Coordinator position where she excelled.

As the new CASA Director, Saulsbury will provide professional direction and guidance to the program as it continues its successful growth in Worcester County.

New Sales Agents

BERLIN – Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage recently recruited four new sales agents to join its Ocean Pines office – Margo Harrison, Scott Guay and the team of Edward and Mia Schreier.

Harrison, a newly licensed agent in Maryland, comes to the coast from the Baltimore area. She is a member the National Association of Realtors(NAR), the Maryland Association of Realtors (MAR), and the Coastal Association of Realtors (CAR).

Guay, a retired information technology professional, started his real estate career in the northern neck of Virginia in 2003 and moved to the coast in June 2006. A top producer for many years, he holds the designations of Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), e-PRO Internet Professional, and Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI).

Edward and Mia Schreier are a team licensed in Maryland. Both are members of NAR, MAR and CAR. Additionally, Mia is licensed in Delaware and belongs to the Delaware Association of Realtors (DAR), the Sussex County Association of Realtors (SCOAR), and the Women’s Council of Realtors. She has been a full time agent since July 2005 and was nominated for Rookie of Year in 2006. Edward Schreier, a longtime resident of Ocean City and Worcester County, became licensed in July 2007.

Firm Partner Announced

OCEAN CITY – Ayres, Jenkins, Gordy & Almand, P.A., has announced that Bruce F. Bright has become a partner in the firm effective Jan. 1.

Bright, who has been a member of the firm since 2001, will continue to focus his practice on civil litigation, both trial and appellate, representing individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts in personal injury cases, business torts, partnership and other business entity disputes, construction claims, real estate and other contract claims and matters involving administrative law, condominium and homeowner’s association law and property rights.

The firm, which was founded in 1973 by Guy R. Ayres III, Dean Jenkins and Harold B. “Chip” Gordy, Jr., now includes nine attorneys in two offices.

Designation Earned

OCEAN CITY – Merrill Lynch announced this week that Dennis Hudson of the Ocean City office has completed the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor program and received the CRPC® designation.

The designation is given to those financial advisors who complete the program, pass the final examination, and sign a code of ethics commitment and declaration form.

Hudson has been a part of Merrill Lynch’s Ocean City office for two years.

Business Expo Planned

BERLIN – The Berlin Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business Expo to promote networking and local businesses.

This is an invitation to all chamber members in the greater Ocean City and Ocean Pines area.  This will also serve as the Berlin Chamber’s Annual Membership Drive and After Hours and be held on Feb. 21 at Ocean Downs. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., admission is free. There will be door prizes drawings, a 50/50 and a drawing for a free one-year membership to the Berlin Chamber o Commerce.

Top Producers

BETHANY BEACH, Del. – Seacoast Realty, a Carl M. Freeman Company, announced December’s Top Producers for all eight Seacoast Realty locations at a recent Sales Meeting.

Tammy Mushrush received top honors in listing volume for the month of December. Top listing volume awards for individual agents by office are Mushrush for the Bethany Beach office; Robert Kauffman for the Clarksville office; Marc Grimes for the Bear Trap office; Rich Riddle for the Marketplace office; Steve Alexander for the Edgewater/Sea Colony office; and Wayne Phillips for the Ocean City office.

Julie Schroeck of the Marketplace office received the top honors for sales volume for the month of December. Top sales volume awards for individual agents by office are Ellen McCreary for the Bethany Beach office; Kauffman for the Clarksville office; Julie Schroeck for the Marketplace office, Josh Morimoto for the Ocean City office; and Linda Quasney for the Bayside office.

Anne and Jen Team received top honors for listings volume for a team and top honors for sales volume for a team for the month of December.

Scouts Promotion

BERLIN – After 22 years with the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council, Chief Operating Officer Julia “Judy” Zecca retired on Jan. 18. Donna Smith, an 11-year member of the council staff, has been promoted to the COO position.

Zecca, of Newark, Del., began volunteering with the Girl Scouts in 1976 and joined the staff working in the program department in 1985. Over the years, she has held numerous positions.

Smith has volunteered with the Girl Scouts for 20 years before joining the staff in 1997. She was previously the Director of Membership and Director of Adult Development with the Chesapeake Bay Council. She will be relocating to the Girl Scouts headquarters in Newark, Del.

“This is a bittersweet time for the Girl Scouts,” said Judy Taggart, CEO of Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council. “The Council is grateful for Judy’s hard work and dedication over the last 22 years. She will be missed by staff and Girl Scouts across the peninsula. We are excited to welcome Donna as our new COO.
