There really are only a few good movies out there worth watching. Some of Insider’s favorites are Citizen Kane, A Christmas Carol (the black and white), The Rules of the Game, Singin’ in the Rain, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Bridge on the River Kwai, Ben-Hur and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

The topics of these movies are as contrasting as possible, but they each will make you do a few things; that’s laugh, cry and wish it never ended. The best part of all is there’s no foul language, which dominates movie theaters these days. It seems the television guys are now hip to the language usually reserved for the big screen. The old guy heard the b-word, s-word and h-word the other night while wasting some time and watching a lame sitcom before the start of his Sherlock Holmes show.

Insider stopped going to the movies a long time ago. The quality of what "Copywood" was producing was one reason, but the main reasons were the bureaucrats forced the movie theater owners to put a halt to all smoking and raised the ticket prices to unheard of levels to pay for the new paint, seats and carpet to cover up the old smoke smells. That’s why the old guy stopped heading out for the flicks. It’s a shame because the Insider is a sucker for the classics. The last movie the old guy saw in the theater was "Forrest Gump’. It had to be about 15 years ago. It’s a long movie, especially for a cigarette addict, but Insider liked it all the same. It was much better in the comfort of his own home. It was on some channel the other night and Insider smoked to his heart’s delight. It was even better than the first time. That’s the cigarettes’ effect.

Outside Insider’s window today it’s 62 degrees. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be more of the same, but there’s a chance of snow come Sunday. How is anyone supposed to not get sick with weather like this? That’s the forecast according to the weather guy on channel 16, but he did acknowledge, "I am not too confident in this weekend forecast." At least the man’s honest.
