BERLIN- The action at Ocean Downs remained as hot as the weather last week with several drivers building on their fast early starts in the summer live meet.

Driver Anthony Morgan continued his assault on the Ocean Oval with four wins last Thursday and three more on Sunday, bringing his total to 10 wins in 31 starts in limited action at Ocean Downs thus far this summer. He is currently the leading driver at Harrington in Delaware and races only occasionally at Ocean Downs, but he remains among the leaders at the local track.

Morgan was Ocean Downs’ driver of the year last year with 47 wins and was Harness Tracks of America’s Driver of the Year with 1,004 total wins at the combined racetracks. He collected four wins last Thursday and padded his lead with three more on Sunday including a win in the feature race of the night behind RT Phoebes Giant.

Another relative newcomer to Ocean Downs, Frank Milby, also collected three wins on Sunday night including a wire-to-wire win behind Shell and another wire-to-wire win behind Pegasus Osbourne. Milby is the leading driver at Rosecroft Raceway in western Maryland and like Morgan races only occasionally at Ocean Downs.

Meanwhile, local driver Raymond “Shorty” Robinson, Jr. continues to lead all drivers thus far at Ocean Downs this summer with 18 total wins. The Bishopville native has been steady all year, and although his victories are not coming in bunches like they did early in the meet, he continues to pad his lead among the drivers at Ocean Downs. Robinson picked up another win on Sunday behind Always Hilarious.

For the rest of the season the live meet will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through August 25. As always, admission and parking are free. Ocean Downs also offers simulcasting daily from some of the top tracks in the country.
